Updating optical disk storage
Alternatively referred to as a disc drive, optical media, optical storage, Optical disc drive, and optical disk, an optical disc is any media read using a laser assembly.
The most common types of optical media are Blu-ray, CDs, and DVDs.
Computers can read and write to CDs and DVDs using a CD writer or DVD writer drive, and a Blu-ray is read with a Blu-ray drive.
Drives such as a CD-R and DVD-R drive that can read and write information to discs are known as MO (magneto-optic).
From your product support page, locate the Software Update section from one of two locations (ARROWS).
Then, download the current firmware file by clicking the link (CIRCLE).
This side of the disc contains the actual data and is typically coated with a transparent material, usually lacquer.
The reverse side of an optical disc usually has a printed label, sometimes made of paper but often printed or stamped onto the disc itself.
This type of software converts the data into a format that people can understand, such as a video. Some legacy devices may use specific drivers, but this is rare. All newer drives are Plug-and-Play compliant, meaning the drivers are already built-in to the computer. Note: Our newer drives have been tested with Windows 10 and remain Plug-and-Play compliant.Note: Due to licensing constraints, the Cyberlink Media Suite software that comes with LG Optical Disc drives is not available for replacement.Firmware is housed on the Optical Disc Drive itself.
